Liverpool fans might have expected Jurgen Klopp to unearth a lot of quality German talents, thanks to his history in the Bundesliga. That hasn’t happened so far during the German’s tenure, with Loris Karius being a major question mark regarding his overall ability.

Things might pick up though as we have been linked with a move for Kai Havertz, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen.

Havertz made his Bundesliga debut for the side last year and even became their youngest ever player to represent the side at 17 years and 126 days.

Now, Daily Mail claims that a number of European clubs, including Liverpool, are interested in the midfielder, who seems to be having a great run for the youth team of the national side.

Havertz was the captain of the German youth team that faced Belarus in a European Championship qualifying match and he was on fire. The youngster scored four goals in the 5-1 win and also set up the fifth goal in an incredible performance, with our scouts watching from the stands.

The report also claims that Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the player and that we will have to battle the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature. Klopp being our manager should help us out in signing the player.

We have struggled to provide a lot of quality in the attack using our midfield and with Emre Can’s situation not clear yet, we might have to dip into the market to get a replacement.

Can has had a number of quality games for us and if Havertz continues performing in the same vein of form, there will be a lot of interest from other European clubs. We did sign Can from Leverkusen on the cheap and beat Bayern Munich for his signature, even without Klopp being our manager.

That just goes on to prove that we can sign young players if we can promise them of playing time. But with Leverkusen already having sold one of their former players in Emre Can to us, we just might have to sweeten the deal to bring Havertz to Anfield.
