Major Blow for Liverpool as transfer target Sofyan Amrabat makes decision on next step

In what could be a major blow to the Liverpool transfer strategy for January and the next summer, one of the Reds’ most talked about transfer targets, Sofyan Amrabat makes a bold decision on his future and does not have the Merseysiders in his plan.

According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Moroccan international will head nowhere but stay at Fiorentina and the Artemio Franchi Stadium. He has been a crucial part of Walid Regragui’s team in Qatar this year at the World Cup and one of the main reasons for their push until the semi-finals.

Amrabat’s current contract with Fiorentina expires in 2024 (Transfermarkt) but to fend off interest from other clubs, notably from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, the Serie A outfit intends to give their star player a new lucrative deal.

The said report also talks about figures rounding the £28m mark could make Fiorentina reassess their options and think about the situation from a financial perspective as well given how multiple clubs are sniffing around Amrabat’s contract situation.

Amrabat to the Reds?

The Reds could actually do good with a signing of his calibre, as his ball-carrying ability alongside his defensive rigidity could be something with which he can challenge Fabinho for a spot in the Starting XI.

Liverpool have become too predictable in recent seasons, and at times like these, a complete midfield overhaul could be the solution to the Reds’ problems hence, signing a new midfielder should be at the top of priorities for the club even if it is not Amrabat.

Amrabat is in his prime days as a footballer, and there would be absolutely no better time to get him on board at Merseyside and see him play games for the club in tandem with Fabinho who plays the same role.

In addition, a player in the prime of his career is likely to be more consistent in their performances and less prone to injuries. This can help to provide stability and reliability within the team, which can be crucial for achieving success over the course of a long and demanding season.
