Jurgen Klopp hints injury to Liverpool star James Milner might not be serious

Speaking to Sky Sports after the Liverpool – Manchester City clash last night as quoted by Evening Standard, Jurgen Klopp hopes that the injury to Liverpool star James Milner might not be serious.

Klopp confirmed that the Reds veteran ‘felt something in his hamstring’ during the game against the Cityzens which is why he had to be hooked off but was optimistic that he might be okay.

The German boss revealed that Milner himself said that it might not be much and for a player as experienced as the Liverpool man is, he might know his body and his condition better than anyone else does.

Liverpool eventually lost the Carabao cup match to Manchester City with Pep Guardiola’s men emerging 3-2 winners. It was an entertaining match from both sides and ultimately, the Reds fell just short.

Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Nathan Ake netted for Manchester club whilst Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho netted for Klopp’s team. It was not the restart Liverpool would have been hoping for though.

Here is what Klopp had to say about Milner’s injury and he seemed rather optimistic about it not being serious.

“Millie felt something in the hamstring. We still hope it is not an injury, but we will see. He felt something, but after 30 years in the business he said, ‘I don’t think it’s a lot’ so we will see.”

Liverpool have had a huge struggle with injuries this season. A number of players have gotten injured at the wrong time for the Reds and just when they thought those troubles would be over, it seems to plague them again.

Luis Diaz recently suffered a setback in his recovery that has ruled him out for the foreseeable future and in their first match back in action, they have already seen James Milner succumb to injury.

Luckily for the Reds, Trent is expected to be back for the next game and he will take his right-back spot. However, considering the utility that Milner brings to this squad, they will be hoping this is not serious.
