Liverpool could offer Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar a contract

Inter’s Milan Skriniar is a soon-to-be free agent in the summer of 2023 (Transfermarkt). You could either call him Inter’s Milan Skriniar or Inter Milan’s Skriniar for the time being, but there is a possibility of the 27-year-old donning the Reds of Liverpool next season.

According to toTEAMtalk (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Reds are in the reckoning to offer the Slovakian a deal once his current contract with the Serie A side runs out. He has the provision of holding a pre-contractual agreement with European teams when there are six months or less left on his current deal.

The centre-back is one of the league’s best in the Italian top tier and after 236 appearances for Inter since 2017, he has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the running for the last few seasons.

Taking Inter’s Milan away from them?

At this stage, it almost seems like Liverpool could do with reinforcements in each department possible bar the goalie. Liverpool’s central defenders in Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are well over 30 and we need long-term replacements.

Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez are the present options but with the Englishman’s poor form, it is not bad to look beyond the player as well. Liverpool, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, are the teams intending on giving Skrianiar a new deal.

The last time we signed a centre-back on free, it turned out to be just fine, no? Big Joel has been great for the Reds ever since joining us back in 2016 and Skriniar could also potentially step into his shoes and carry on the legacy of a free-transfer centre-back at Liverpool.

Even though it seems like the Reds can do themselves a world of good by getting on board more players, the main focus presently should be on signing a world-class midfielder, or possibly two as the midfield seems completely done out at this point in time, and we could really really do with reinforcements in that department.
