Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reiterates his stance on Lionel Messi, calls the greatest footballer of all time
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, according to The Mirror, has doubled down on his praise of Argentina and Paris St. Germain ace Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of his lifetime.
Messi produced one of the best individual performances to date to guide Argentina to World Cup glory and end the nation’s long wait for the cup.
Klopp also expressed his happiness over Argentina winning the World Cup and reiterated the impact of Messi and how he is simply the greatest of all time.
“The greatest footballer in my lifetime, Lionel Messi, the way he plays football in this age should give us all a hint at how long footballers can perform at the top level. We shouldn’t close the books too early. It was a joy to watch him.”
The big debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo took a decisive turn when the Argentine won the World Cup, in addition to the Copa America trophy won last year.
It does indeed feel like an impressive achievement in an already-established career which has seen lots of highs and lows.
Although Klopp is full of praise, he is partly responsible for inflicting one of the worst defeat’s in the Argentine’s career when Messi was on the other end of the famous Liverpool comeback in the 2019 UEFA Champions League semi-final.
It was a catalyst which allowed us to eventually bring the trophy home and establish ourselves as one of the most dominant teams in Europe. A lot of credit has to be given to Klopp for setting in a winning mindset at the club and bringing in leaders in the dressing room.
It has been a rather surprising season which has seen us somewhat already out of the title race but in all honesty, many of the current squad players have moved past their prime and hence reinforcements are needed to continue the dominance.

There is still a long way to go in the season and no reason why we cannot finish the season strongly and approach the 2023 transfer window with an intent to challenge for all top honours again next season.
