Newcastle United have entered the race for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo amidst Liverpool interest
According to The Athletic, Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s talented midfielder Moises Caicedo, with Liverpool also being linked with the player in the past.
Liverpool were on full hunt mode in the summer transfer window looking to sign high-quality midfielders due to an ageing midfield plus injuries to key players, especially in the middle of the park.
Caicedo was touted as one of the primary targets but his current club Brighton were reluctant to let the player leave and stay with the Seagulls for at least one more season.
Caicedo’s stock has risen exponentially since his move to the Premier League from Independiente del Valle and although he has made roughly 23 appearances in the league, there is strong interest in the player from various top clubs.
After a failed summer move, it is claimed that Liverpool are still interested in the player with now the resurgent Newcastle also in the mix-up for the player.
Newcastle has shifted the balance of the top six and within one year of the change of ownership with the Saudi Arabia group taking over, it looks like a completely different team
It is actually a warning to the league’s top sides that there is one more contender in town and with an influx of money coming in, no player financially is out of sight for the Magpies.
If the Financial Fair Play rules allow, they do have the option to strong power their rivals by offering more money to clubs and this is something we have to be careful about when it comes to signings like Caicedo.
He is a top talent and at just 21 years of age, has all the essentials to reach the very top and losing out on him could eventually be a huge blow for us.
