Chelsea and Arsenal to challenge Liverpool for USMNT star Yunus Musah
Valencia’s American midfielder Yunus Musah stands linked with a move to Liverpool as many midfielders across Europe’s Top 5 leagues. As per Spanish news outlet Fichajes via Liverpool Echo, the Reds are showing prolonged interest in the player. Moreover, even Chelsea and Arsenal are in the race for the 19-year-old central midfielder.
Musah was among the better-performing stars for his National Team at the World Cup in Qatar and put in a real shift in the midfield linking defence and attack. In 14 appearances across all competitions for Valencia this season, Musah has two assists to boot.
Also, it is extremely important for the Reds to sign a midfielder, and in that too a young player like Musah, who has shown tremendous potential at the highest of levels and has a high ceiling. The Arsenal academy graduate has five goals and three assists in 84 appearances across all competitions for Valencia.
Could Musah move to Liverpool?
If Liverpool could resonate with any other Premier League side in terms of inconsistent performances and injury issues, it is indeed Chelsea. Both clubs are floating in the same boat, and don’t be surprised if we continue to share a number of our transfer targets with them in the coming few weeks or so.
There is no point in mentioning why the Reds need a new midfielder as by this time, it should be common knowledge. Mentioning the same old reasons such as inconsistent performances, an alarming average squad age and the fact that we have become stale is becoming repetitive. But all in all, the bottom line remains constant, and that is we need to sign new midfielders.
Moreover, with the contracts of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita expiring next summer, the requirements will be just more insistent. Add to that the fact that Musah could qualify as a homegrown product, which will certainly help the Reds’ cause.

However, the fact that he has a pretty long-standing contract (until 2027 via Transfermarkt) at the La Liga side could mean that he will not come easy. And if the Reds really intend on spending the big bucks, why not go after Jude Bellingham?
