Brighton reject Chelsea’s bid for Liverpool target Moises Caicedo
According to Liverpool Echo, Brighton & Hove Albion have rejected Chelsea’s bid for talented midfielder and Liverpool target Moises Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has been hogging all the headlines with his impressive performances for the Seagulls. He has been one of their standout players this campaign and has been running the show in midfield.
Caicedo shows maturity beyond his age in the way he plays and understands the game. It comes as no surprise that he is already one of the first names on the team sheet at Brighton and has been linked with a big move away.
Premier League giants like Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be interested in the Ecuadorian. Chelsea have already made an offer to Brighton but the Seagulls are keen to keep the player and have rejected the offer.
It is being claimed that the Blues made a £55m bid for the youngster that has been turned down. It shows that even the money is not tempting the Seagulls into agreeing a deal for the prodigious talent.
Liverpool will be watching this and understanding what kind of an offer might tempt Brighton to sell Caicedo. He is a player who will add a lot to the Reds midfield should he make his way to Anfield.
The midfield region is an area where Liverpool really lacks quality. Their existing options are growing in age and do not look like they have much to offer. It is only the inclusion of youngsters like Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic that offers hope.
Jurgen Klopp has tried different midfield trios this season and very few of them convinced. Their most recent game against Wolves in which he lined up with Naby Keita, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara was one of the better choices this season.
