Klopp Presser Ahead Of West Brom Clash: Confirms Two Absentees From His Defence

Jurgen Klopp was seething after the 1-1 draw against Everton in our last game but there is no time to waste as the Reds prepare for a clash at home against West Bromwich Albion. The away side have made a managerial change in recent weeks, with Alan Pardew taking up the mantle, and the former Crystal Palace manager will be looking to frustrate us once again.

One of the talking points from the earlier game was the fact that Klopp rotated his side once again and many believed that not starting with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino led to a rather laboured performance with only one goal being scored by the Reds.

The German manager was speaking to Liverpool’s official website and suggested that a couple of changes could be enforced to the side as we take on the Baggies.

Alberto Moreno seems to be out of the clash as he still recovers from an injury. The Spaniard missed the clash against the Toffees and there still is no time frame for his return. Klopp stated that there are more tests to be conducted on the former Sevilla man and he could be out for up to six weeks.

“It’s still possible it’s not that long, it’s possible it is up to six weeks. We will have to see. It’s really not decided so far, so we need to have a further look on it.”

Joel Matip

More Defensive Problems For Liverpool

Another player who seems certain to miss the clash is centre-back Joel Matip. The former Schalke star has not played against Brighton, Spartak Moscow and Everton, and is yet to take part in full training.

“Joel is not in training. He is running, nothing more. That means it takes a little bit longer.”

Even though we have not had our first choice defence for selection, we have done better than most would have expected, thanks to our incredible attack.

Hopefully, with all the changes being done, we can continue our winning streak and close the gap on Manchester United and Chelsea to ensure we break into the top-three and qualify for the group stages of the Champions League rather than reaching the playoffs like we did last season.

To be honest, West Brom don’t really have a great attack but if we cannot thrash them by scoring big, they might just get a point from the game, similar to what Everton did at the weekend.
