Liverpool and Manchester City on alert as Barcelona star Gavi could be available for free in the summer

According to The Times, Liverpool and Manchester City are put on alert with their interest in Barcelona midfielder Gavi as he could be available for free in the summer.

It has come after the revelation that the La Liga leaders may not be able to afford the 18-year-old’s registration in the squad.

Gavi, who was previously playing with a youth contract, signed a senior team contract with Barcelona in September 2022. The deal was worth €8 million a year. The club slapped a €1 billion release clause on that contract, showing the player’s indispensability in the transfer market.

But, with Barcelona’s financial struggles, if the midfielder’s contract is not ratified by La Liga, he could go back to his youth contract and become available for free in the summer window.

Although Liverpool and City’s interest in him has been remote so far, it could ignite if this situation is not resolved before the transfer window kickstarts.

Gavi is a fantastic young midfielder who would be an excellent addition to either of the teams. We know that Liverpool will be undergoing a midfield overhaul in the summer.

Their primary target is Jude Bellingham, while Mason Mount is highly likely to join the Reds as well. Even if the club signs both the Englishmen, they could do with another addition in that department.

Gavi could be that addition. For a potentially free transfer, you won’t get a better player than him. Moreover, he is just 18, hence has the time and room to further improve his game and become a superstar under Jurgen Klopp.

We hope that Barcelona’s financial situation does not resolve by the summer and we take advantage of that. It will be a bit of revenge for what they used to do by taking our best players in the past.
