Newcastle United are considering a loan bid for Liverpool’s full-back Andrew Robertson. According to latest reports, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wants to raid his former club for a loan deal. This is reported by the Chronicle, which states that Benitez is trying to use his old connections to land the deal. He is hopeful of a positive result as he tries to bolster his squad.

Newcastle have struggled this season and after a slump in results, they find themselves in the bottom three. A torrid run of form has seen the Magpies lose 8 of their last 9 matches.

They have won just once since mid-September and Benitez wants to revamp his squad, starting with the full-back position. The report indicates that he has three Liverpool players on his radar. He wants the Reds to keep him informed if any of their players are available for a loan move.

Newcastle are looking at strikers Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge, and Robertson. Ings has just returned from a long-term injury. Klopp is ready to farm him out on loan to increase his game time. Sturridge isn’t a regular, hence may be tempted by a loan deal.

Robertson’s link is a surprise since the left-back only arrived in the summer. While he has had a tough time settling down, the club rates him very high.

No Chance For Benitez!

Robertson may have made only six appearances until now but I would be really surprised if Klopp allowed the Scotland international to move. Even if it is a temporary deal, it seems like Klopp will not let him leave.

The left-back has been featuring prominently of late. It is an injury to Alberto Moreno that has improved his first-team chances. His best performance came in the emphatic win over Bournemouth and I got a feeling that he is ready to cement his place.

Will he be allowed to leave in the winter? I highly doubt that! The Reds would know that sending him on loan when we ourselves are not well-stocked is not a good move! We need a back-up for Moreno, and there’s no way Robertson is leaving.
