Chelsea agree to sell Mason Mount amidst Liverpool links
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Chelsea have agreed to sell 24-year-old English superstar Mason Mount amidst interest from Liverpool.
It looks increasingly likely by the day that Mason Mount will not renew his contract at the Bridge. The Reds are the club most linked with a player who has tremendous potential and is still very young.
Mount is in the process of renewing his existing contract with Chelsea. However, despite being a Blues boy since he was a kid, it seems like the club find his wage demands outlandish and a new contract seems nowhere close to being agreed upon.
It is now being claimed that Chelsea have had enough with these negotiations and have resigned to the fact that they will lose Mason Mount. The club have apparently told him he is free to discuss his transfer for the summer.
What a player!
Despite looking unrealistic for so long, it does seem like Liverpool could get lucky with this ‘Mason Mount situation’. What a player he’d be if the Reds manage to sign him! The Englishman is exactly the kind of player that our midfield is craving for.
Liverpool’s midfield needs multiple reinforcements. We need players who can control the midfield and also create chances with their play and it is very rare to find a player who gives you both – Mount is one of them!
How good Mount has been for Chelsea for the last few seasons except for the recent few months cannot be forgotten. The English midfielder is also very versatile and can play on the wings as well as in midfield.
The only thing that could prove to be a stumbling block for the Reds is the fact that Chelsea could not match the wages that Mount wanted. If a club that spends so much money like the Blues do cannot agree upon wages with the player, can Liverpool manage to do that?
