With Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool chapter slowly accumulating dust, the club not only wants to replace the departed Brazilian but also wants to use the fee received for him to strengthen at other positions. After shoring up the defence by signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to finding a new goalkeeper.

The goalkeeping position has been questioned a number of times, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius underperforming at Anfield. Both the shot-stoppers have made mistakes time and again, and while Klopp has made Karius the No.1 between the sticks, it looks like it is only for time being before the German gaffer finds a commanding goalie.

Reportedly, Liverpool are interested in signing AS Roma goalkeeper Allison Becker, who is widely ranked as Brazil’s top goalkeeper. Roma have turned down a bid from the Reds for the 25-year-old and are keen to keep him at least until the end of the campaign, report Il Tempo (h/t Metro). The Serie A club are holding out for £44million.

Last night, Allison showed why he is so highly-rated across Europe. The Brazilian made 8 saves in the first-half against Sampdoria that is reportedly more than any Roma goalkeeper has had in an entire match in the last 5 years.

Allison was fantastic, made key saves during the entire game to keep his side in the game. Unfortunately for him and Roma, Sampdoria scored in the 80th minute through Colombia forward Duvan Zapata, which turned out to be the winner.

Despite ending on the losing side, the goalkeeper earned a lot of plaudits for his heroics and exceptional shot-stopping ability.

Here is how the Liverpool fans reacted to the 25-year-old’s amazing performance against Sampdoria.
