Daniel Sturridge can’t get a break, well, off the field at least. The West Brom striker was looking to score a goal or two against his former employers Chelsea but had to be substituted after just three minutes and there is no guarantee when he will return.
The Liverpool striker was sent on loan to the Baggies with the hopes of him making a return to his goal scoring ways and somehow make it into the England side for the World Cup. But this was just another day in the life of Sturridge as he picked up another injury, which raises major questions about his ability to play at the highest level and stay fit.
A number of fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Sturridge’s injury.

It’s a shame D. Sturridge career as a patient has been interrupted by football so frequently. pic.twitter.com/QnWxBC5e9s

Loving all these *hilarious* Daniel Sturridge jokes and memes He’s a rich professional footballer, you see, which somehow permits us all to have a proper good giggle at his physical (and no doubt mental) suffering!!!

Daniel Sturridge has had 31 injuries since 2013 (102 league games played). That’s as many as Kompany over the same period (95 games). Dembélé has had 39 minor injuries, but still played 150 games.

Imagine the hours and hours of physio to rehabilitate – it must be so soul destroying to keep getting injured – more so when you know just how good you are – yet some ‘fans’ heckle and laugh. Get a grip please #Sturridge

World Cup dream over?
Daniel Sturridge picked up his 31st injury since 2013 for West Brom last night, coming off in the first 4 mins vs Chelsea
Gutted for the lad hopefully he is back soon but as we know very well, that may not be the case #LFC pic.twitter.com/zc7lY18KFD

Honestly feel bad for Danny Sturridge… hate when injuries do that to a player..

Such a shame about Sturridge, on his day one of the best strikers in the league.

There was another reaction from Michael Owen, the former Liverpool man who infamously joined Manchester United.
Most of us cannot forgive him for that and he did tweet about the injury but instead of posting ‘pain’ the former England striker said ‘paid’ and all the memories came rushing back for Liverpool fans as they had a right old pop at him.
Not nice seeing @DanielSturridge limp off last night. I’ve felt his exact paid when your body lets you down. Unfortunately it meant a total change of style for the remainder of my career. From playing freely to a confined penalty box predator.

“Paid” sums you both up perfectly

“Pain” – predictive text can go to he’ll
— Gareth Bentham (@Gareth4321) February 13, 2018
Even we are feeling the same “ paid “ by your English @themichaelowen
— harsha_cfc (@CfcHarsha) February 13, 2018
How appropriate you used the word paid instead pain as neither of you would play through the pain barrier while earning your monster salary!!

At least he can now do some terrible radio adverts when he retires now. “Hi, I’m Michael Owen, and I know how it feels to be injured….” You should be embarrassed by that.

“I’ve felt his exact paid when your body lets you down”
Freudian slip there or autocorrect working its magic?#nufc
