Kostas Tsimikas expected to stay at Liverpool this summer
Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas is expected to stay at the Anfield side ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Giannis Chorianopoulos on Twitter, editor in Chief at Sportime newspaper (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Greece international has ‘no intention’ of parting ways with the Merseysiders in the coming months. As for the Reds, they desire to prolong the defender’s stay at the club as well.
In the summer of 2020, Liverpool signed the 27-year-old from Olympiacos. Since then, the left-back has mostly played a backup role in Jurgen Klopp’s team, with Andrew Robertson the first choice.

The Scotland international has been the preferred option on the left-hand side of our defence for several years now. Having arrived from Hull City in 2017, he has gone from strength to strength at the Reds and has developed into one of the best left-backs in the world.
Since the German manager’s arrival in the Anfield side’s dugout, success has returned to the club. To that end, the Merseysiders have found a lot of success on their flanks with the 29-year-old and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Robertson is brilliant on both ends of the pitch. Defensively the Scottish national is sound. Going forward, the full-back has the ability to put in brilliant crosses and create opportunities for our attackers.
As a result, Tsimikas has not been handed many opportunities at Liverpool. He has been a bit-part player for the Reds. However, Klopp has been able to count on the Greek national when required.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the 27-year-old did when called upon. At the start of the season, he featured heavily. But subsequently, the 27-year-old’s influence in the team dwindled. In 28 appearances in all competitions, the left-back provided six assists.

Tsimikas has been a reliable squad player for us. Strength in depth is key for any team to compete for major titles. Therefore, it would be wise of the Anfield side to keep a hold of the Greek national for now.
