Chelsea plot a move for Liverpool target and Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella
Giving competition to Liverpool and Newcastle in their race to sign Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella, Chelsea have now entered the fray to land the 26-year-old Italian international at Stamford Bridge.
The latest revelation by Corriere dello Sport via ECHO has stated Chelsea plan to include Romelu Lukaku in a swap deal to ensure that Lukaku has continuity at the UCL runners-up while Barella makes the switch to London.
This should be a cause of concern for Liverpool as they are in dire need of quality midfielders who are capable of taking the Reds through the transitional phase they find themselves in at the moment.
However, the report further states that Inter do not want to get into negotiations involving player swaps and only want another loan deal for Lukaku. However, Liverpool cannot take things lightly.
Barella is head and shoulders above the other midfield targets Liverpool have on their radar and should try their best in luring him to Anfield. The interest from other clubs should fuel their motivation to get Barella on board.
With Newcastle United also sniffing around the situation, Liverpool cannot let this slip and put in their all to ensure a quality player like the Italian doesn’t head to their rivals.
His wide range of passing and set-piece ability would make him an ideal fit for any club in the world, and there’s surely no other team that needs midfielders more than us.
Over the summer, we’ll see three midfielders depart. The likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are not the same as they were a few years ago, and Thiago is very injury-prone.
