Liverpool ‘obsessed’ with €100 million-rated Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde
Liverpool are ‘obsessed’ with Real Madrid star Federico Valverde who is valued at €100 million by Florentino Perez in the ongoing transfer window, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.
As things stand, the midfielder’s future at the La Liga outfit is up in the air. Kylian Mbappe could make his way to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit this summer after deciding to part ways with Paris Saint-Germain. The French national’s arrival would make the Uruguay international expendable.
To that end, the Reds are looking to convince the 25-year-old to join them. However, apart from the Merseyside outfit, Premier League rivals Chelsea also have him on their radar.
Both Liverpool and the Blues have their eyes on Valverde to bolster their respective teams. However, the Uruguayan will not come cheap as Madrid will want a hefty fee for him.
The midfielder has been at Los Blancos since the summer of 2016. After a few years with the Spanish giants’ youth side, the 25-year-old broke into the La Liga outfit’s first team under Zinedine Zidane.
Subsequently, Valverde has been a key player for the Santiago Bernabeu side over the last few years. However, now, with the addition of Jude Bellingham to Carlo Ancelotti’s ranks, the midfielder will face further competition for a place in the team, with the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni also at the club.
Liverpool have seen an exodus from their engine room this summer. While we have added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to our ranks, several other midfielders have left or are on the verge of an exit.
James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are no longer with the Reds. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are also close to moving to Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, we will evidently need to reinforce the middle of the park in the coming weeks. Valverde is a talented and robust player who will arguably add more quality to the Anfield side’s squad. But it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit will pursue his signature.
