Alex Scott completes Bournemouth transfer amidst Liverpool links
Bournemouth have completed the signing of Alex Scott from Championship outfit Bristol City amidst links to Liverpool, via the Liverpool Echo.
The Merseyside outfit were one of the admirers of the highly-rated midfielder. However, the Reds’ interest was never concrete. The Cherries have paid around £25 million to acquire the youngster’s services.
Initially, Wolverhampton Wanderers were leading the race to get a hold of the 19-year-old’s signature. However, the Molineux Stadium side were unable to meet Bristol’s valuation.
Scott made his way to the Robins in 2020. Subsequently, in the 2021/22 term, the youngster established himself in the Championship outfit’s starting lineup.
The English national was once again a key player for Bristol last season. Often playing as a number eight or in the attacking midfield position, he made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Ashton Gate stadium side, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
At Liverpool, the midfielder has seen a mass exodus this summer. First, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita parted ways with the club. Subsequently, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have made their way to Saudi Arabia.
To bolster the engine room, the Reds have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szobozslai so far. However, we could also be seeing Moises Caicedo make his way to the Anfield side from Brighton & Hove Albion in the coming days.
Jurgen Klopp can also call upon some of the youngsters in the team. Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic are also at the Merseyside outfit’s disposal.
