Liverpool will be without five key players for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion
According to The Mirror, Liverpool will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League next weekend without five players available for duty.
The Reds return to league action for the first time since the controversy embroiled loss to Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday. However, as things stand, Jurgen Klopp has decisions to make.
Liverpool face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday and the Reds’ boss will hope that he will not have any fresh injury concerns ahead of the weekend. Hopefully, we will return to winning ways and also restart a winning momentum heading into the busy end of the season.
It is in the midfield that Klopp has decisions to make. Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara are both out injured. The former has been on the bench a few times of late following his return from injury. The former, however, has suffered a minor calf issue and the Reds are unwilling to risk anything. Bajcetic is still young and it makes sense for us to get him back up to speed before deploying him.
Bajcetic and Thiago are now joined on the sidelines by Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman is out till around the next international break. Liverpool will hope that Gakpo will make a quick recovery and return to the form he displayed ahead of the setback against Tottenham.
The Reds will also be without Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones, both of who are suspended. Both players were sent off against Tottenham and will now serve their absences. The former was sent off for two yellow cards while the latter got a red card for his troubles.
Jota will return to action for the Merseyside Derby on October 21 while Curtis will only return to contention for the game against Luton Town on November 5. This comes after the Reds’ appeal against the latter’s sending off was rejected.

Brighton are one of the most threatening sides in the top flight and will pose Liverpool a serious challenge. Despite the absentees, the Reds have plenty of options to call upon. Klopp will hope that he will have no more reasons to worry about in the leadup to the weekend.
