Jurgen Klopp’s assistant manager Zeljko Buvac’s unceremonious departure from Liverpool right before the crucial AS Roma semi-final has been a hot topic lately. There has been a lot of speculation about the reason behind the split – which has been termed temporary, as per Express.
However, the same report has gone on to claim that Klopp was livid after finding out that Buvac was keeping secrets from him.
According to Express, Sven Mislintat had contacted Buvac about a potential move to Arsenal to act as Arsene Wenger’s replacement. However, Buvac kept Klopp in the shadows regarding the situation and our gaffer was understandably furious after he found that out via a third party.
Now, as we all know, Wenger will leave Arsenal at the end of this season and Mislintat, having worked closely with both Klopp and Buvac during their time at Borussia Dortmund, was considering the 56-year-old as a possible managerial candidate.
Buvac is responsible for a lot of tactics that have helped establish Liverpool as a formidable attacking force. He is undeniably gifted as far as football management is concerned but it remains to be seen if his knowledge is sufficient enough to bring Arsenal out of their slump.
Daily Express has claimed that Liverpool are hoping the split is temporary and that Buvac will return from next season onwards. That said, the opportunity to manage Arsenal could be tempting for him and it remains to be seen how the situation plays out.
