Liverpool new boy Fabinho has come out and stated that he would want Lyon forward Nabil Fekir at the club, the Brazilian was quoted by RMC Sport (h/t The Liverpool Echo).

The 24-year-old Fabinho sealed a surprise move to the Reds but it seems like our transfer dealings are not done yet as we have heavily been linked with a move for Fekir, who is rated at £60m.

The Frenchman had a wonderful season for Lyon and took them back into the Champions League too. Fabinho was asked if he wants the French international to play alongside him at Anfield next season and he responded:

“Yes, he is a very good player, of international level.

“In Ligue 1, it is not only this season that he has demonstrated things. It’s been a few years since he demonstrates his quality.

“If he comes, it will be good too.”

Fekir was in fine form for his national side as he scored in the 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland but he is still unsure about making the move to Anfield at the moment.

Nabil Fekir

When the Frenchman was asked about a potential move to Liverpool in the current window, the Lyon man stated:

“If Fabinho is to be my future team-mate? I will discuss my future after the World Cup not before. If I will sign somewhere before the World Cup? Honestly, I don’t know.”

Fekir scored 18 times and provided 8 assists for Lyon last season in the league and even scored 5 more goals in other competitions for the Ligue 1 giants.

The 24-year-old can play in a number of positions across the frontline and also take up the role of an attacking midfielder.

We have wasted no time in bringing players to the club after the Champions League final and this intent is refreshing to see from our transfer committee. Hopefully, Fekir does not play it hard with this deal.
