When it comes to Belgian football news, one can blindly trust the words of journalist Kristof Terreur. Lately, there has been a lot of speculation about Thibaut Courtois’ potential departure from Chelsea and a report from The Metro had named Liverpool as an interested party.
However, Terreur recently cleared the air on Twitter as he provided greater insight into the situation.
All options are still open for Thibaut Courtois. Liverpool haven’t made any contact and the player is not interested in a move to the Reds. The departure of Zidane might change Real’s goalkeeper plans. #cfc #lfc pic.twitter.com/D1CMyXIUz5

From his tweet, it seems clear that the player is inching towards an exit from Chelsea but it is also evident that Liverpool have not yet attempted a move.
While Courtois is an immensely promising goalkeeper with abundant Premier League experience, it goes without saying that there are other options in the market right now.
However, we have a lot of time left in the transfer window, meaning there is scope for us to make a move in the days to come. But knowing Chelsea, they will be hesitant to sell to a direct rival and even if they agree to do so, they will not let him leave without commanding a colossal fee.
If we decide to shell out a huge amount of money, it would make sense to sign players like Alisson Becker or Jan Oblak – both of whom have been Liverpool targets for a long time now.
At the end of the day, the decision will come down to Jurgen Klopp and it is one that needs to be done soon. To get to the next level, we need a solid goalkeeper and I cannot wait to see who we sign this summer.
