Liverpool scouts were in town as potential Jurgen Klopp successor, Ruben Amorim showed off his managerial credentials
Liverpool have ramped up their search efforts for a new manager, as they look to find a worthy successor for Jurgen Klopp and Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim is one on the list. The German coach announced his decision to step down back in January. Since then, the Reds have been making the rounds trying to pick out the perfect candidate. The fact that this is the first time in a decade that Anfield’s squad have needed a new manager doesn’t make things easier.
While Xabi Alonso has emerged as the favourite, there has been some talk suggesting that the Reds are also looking at Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim. As reported by the Portuguese publication Record (h/t Liverpool Echo), scouts from LFC were in the stands to watch Amorim’s recent game.
The Portuguese manager showed out and led his team to a 2-1 victory over Benfica. Amorim’s players showed good determination to hold onto their lead in such a big game.
Moreover, his style of play has similarities with Jurgen Klopp’s system. Many a time his players released long balls into the final third and were super aggressive with their counters. LFC is used to that style of play, so a case can be made for Amorim to be Klopp’s successor at the club.
On the other hand, Xabi Alonso likes to dominate possession and often plays short passes to work the ball into the box. But, he is a legend of the club and his achievements with Bayer Leverkusen are too great to ignore.
