Roberto De Zerbi could be next in line if Liverpool fail to land Xabi Alonso during the summer

As reported by The Guardian, Liverpool are looking at Roberto De Zerbi to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Now, Xabi Alonso is the clear favourite to take up the role thanks to the stellar work that he has done at Bayer Leverkusen. His status as a Liverpool legend also helps him. But, things in the Bundesliga are getting exciting.

With Thomas Tuchel also on his way out of Bayern Munich, the German giants are also looking at Alonso to succeed him. If the Spanish manager chooses Bayern over the Reds, they will be looking at De Zerbi.

His work with Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. has been stellar, to say the least. He has led a relatively weak squad to the top seven of the Premier League. Imagine what he could do with a squad as strong as Liverpool.

But the Reds will have to move swiftly if they wish to sign the Italian manager. Barcelona will also be looking for a manager since Xavi Hernandez will be leaving the Catalan club at the end of the season.

De Zerbi has also been linked to Barcelona in recent days. To increase their chances of landing the Italian, the Reds will likely have to go after both De Zerbi and Alonso at once.
