Jurgen Klopp has set his eyes on Hakim Ziyech of Ajax as the German looks to add more attacking options for Liverpool ahead of the new season.
Calciomercato (h/t Daily Star) claims that the Liverpool manager has been impressed by the attacking output of the Morocco star. The report also claims that the player’s agent Mustapha Nakhli had travelled to England last month.
Liverpool haven’t made an official bid for the midfielder but Ajax are aware of the interest from various clubs across the continent.
It is possible that Ziyech would be in even greater demand as he is a part of the Morocco team that is taking part in the World Cup, and he did take part in the 1-0 loss at the hands of Iran in the opening match for the African side. Ziyech would be an absolute bargain in the current market as his release clause is a paltry £18m.
A cheap option for Liverpool to try out?
The 25-year-old scored 9 times and provided 15 assists for Ajax in 34 league games last season. His performances helped the Dutch giants to second place in the league and Morocco would be hoping for a similar output from the midfielder in the World Cup too.
We certainly need to have more quality options to come off the bench and while Ziyech is not a world beater or a name that everyone might know, he could be a decent option to have, especially given his low price tag.
The midfielder can play in a number of positions across the park too and his versatility could be of great use to us should we sign him ahead of the new season.
