Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister praised youngster centre-back Jarell Quansah for his calm demeanor
Alexis Mac Allister acknowledged the influence of Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah for letting the team play football without any concern. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has regularly deployed Quansah this season in important games as he continues to produce consistent performances.
He has established himself in the squad as a centre-back option alongside Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool lost Joel Matip to a season-ending injury against Fulham in December, leaving a big hole in the defence.
Furthermore, Konate has struggled with injuries while Gomez had to play in multiple positions due to the severe injury crisis. Nevertheless, Quansah has stepped up from the Academy and established himself as a reliable option alongside his captain Van Dijk.
Mac Allister told Liverpoolfc.com that Quansah’s calmness and reliability help the teammates to express themselves without concern about the defence. He said:
“He was amazing. The job he did with Virg [Virgil van Dijk] is so important for the team because it gives us that calmness that we need to play football. Even on the ball he was amazing. Very happy and very glad for him.”
Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday to retain the top position in the Premier League. Arsenal and Manchester City are behind the Reds as they navigate the injury crisis with nine games remaining.
Quansah delivered an impressive performance against Brighton, continuing his impressive season with the Reds as they seek further trophies. He played a key role in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup campaign this season as they have already secured that trophy.
The England U21 has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, contributing with a goal and three assists. Quansah took 122 touches, played 98 accurate passes and made four interceptions against Brighton, leading the stats chart for Liverpool.
