Liverpool ready to offer Alexander-Arnold in swap deal for Rodrygo
El Nacional has reported that Liverpool are plotting a move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes before the start of next season and are willing to use Trent Alexander-Arnold as a bargaining chip for the Brazilian.
Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu has cast doubts over Rodrygo’s future in the Spanish capital, with the Whites not ruling out his departure if the forward proactively asks to leave the club.
Vinicius Junior is expected to retain his prominence in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven and with Mbappe entering the fray as an indispensable figure as well, Liverpool want to leverage Rodrygo’s uncertain role in their favour.
The Premier League giants are willing to part ways with Alexander-Arnold, who has not extended his contract at Anfield as yet and would become a free agent in June 2025 should he fail to do so.
Alexander-Arnold is admired by Real Madrid, who see him as a replacement for Carvajal, and it is understood that Liverpool will hope to sweeten a potential deal for Rodrygo by offering the right-back in a swap.
It is absurd to think that Liverpool will part ways with a captaincy candidate and one of their most adored players for Rodrygo despite the Brazilian star’s incredible potential and qualities.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract extension seems like a case of when and not if, and it may only be a matter of time before the English international pens a fresh deal with Liverpool.
Rodrygo has also pledged his future to Real Madrid following the Champions League final and is set to stay with the European champions for at least the upcoming season.
With the new Champions League format creating a tighter footballing calendar, Rodrygo is bound to have his share of fair chances with Real Madrid.
