New RB Salzburg manager Pep Lijnders plans to raid Liverpool to sign goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros during the summer transfer window

Former Liverpool assistant manager and new RB Salzburg boss Pep Lijnders wants to sign goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros during the summer. Jaros enjoyed a fantastic loan spell with Sturm Graz, winning the Austrian Bundesliga by finishing top in the championship round.

The 22-year-old earned a place in the Czech Republic team for the EURO 2024 competition after his last season’s performances. Jaros ended the season by completing a double with Graz after winning both the Austrian Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup.

Standing at 1.90 metres, Jaros is a brilliant shot-stopper and has the maturity and decision-making to command his area well. The Czech international is comfortable playing out from the backline and contributing to the play on possession as a sweeper-keeper.

According to Austrian outlet Salzburger Nachrichten, Lijnders wants Jaros to replace their outgoing goalkeeper Timo Horn during the summer window. The former Liverpool assistant manager wants to leverage his friendly connection with the club to finalize the deal.

The Reds face serious conundrum in the goalkeeping department after Caoimhin Kelleher revealed his ambitions to play regularly elsewhere. Kelleher enjoyed a great season under Jurgen Klopp with the Reds after number-one goalkeeper Alisson Becker sustained an injury.

The Reds need a suitable number-two to compete with Alisson and take his place in case of any unforeseen injury. Liverpool prefers giving opportunities to their academy players when a suitable option is not available in the market.

The strategy allowed Kelleher to make his name in the cup competitions while playing for the Reds and develop further. Jaros could establish himself as a number-two behind Alisson if he is not looking for immediate first-team experience.

Liverpool have a big decision this summer, which will only happen after new head coach Arne Slot assesses his inherited squad. Nevertheless, Jaros’ impressive loan spell has allowed him to build a good base for his career and with consistency, he can reach any heights in his professional career.
