Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad ready to table another “huge offer” for Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah during the summer window

Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah is a transfer target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad with a potentially “huge offer”. Al-Ittihad presented a £150 million offer for Salah last summer that the Reds rejected instantly to keep the Egypt captain.

Salah enjoyed a prolific season but his form dropped drastically during the end phase which had dire consequences for the Reds. The 32-year-old changed his tactical style of play by focusing more on linkup with his teammates than using his pace.

The Egyptian is still very quick and in peak physical condition despite the slight drop in his blistering pace. Salah has struggled to beat opponents one-on-one which resulted in the tactical change that favoured him and added more layers.

The 32-year-old produced more assists for his teammates while continuing his prolific career for Liverpool despite so many drastic changes. He has dropped wider in the possessional phases while cutting inside only during the final third to exploit threatening spaces.

Nevertheless, the poor finishing and struggle to make an impact during the final stages of the season worried the club. Salah also suffered a significant amount of time on the sideline due to an injury which never happened before.

According to Teamtalk (via Liverpool Echo), Al-Ittihad want Salah during the summer and are ready to make a huge offer. Salah has only one year left in his current contract which makes the situation more complicated for the Reds.

Liverpool operates under a restricted budget and they cannot allow their top players to leave for free. At the same time, Salah remains a vital part as a leader and a consistent performer in the Liverpool squad.

Any decision that Liverpool will make should involve new head coach Arne Slot alongside the new hierarchy. Michael Edwards has returned as the FSG’s CEO of Football alongside the hiring of Richard Hughes as the sporting director. They have to choose between selling Salah or offering him a new contract to avoid losing him for free next year.
