Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are weighing up a sensational swoop for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.
Jamal Musiala, 21, has stolen the show on his home soil for Germany at the 2024 European Championships. The talented playmaker has starred in both the games at the 2024 Euros, helping Germany beat Scotland and Hungary respectively. With two goals in as many games, he is the current joint-top scorer and has arguably been the best performer of the tournament so far, as the host nation have qualified for the knockout rounds.
The Daily Mirror reports Liverpool’s interest in Jamal Musiala has been piqued on the back of his dazzling displays for the Germans at the ongoing European Championships. The Merseyside club have already been big admirers of the former England youth international, though, are now said to be thinking of acting on their interest and making a move.
However, the Reds aren’t the only club interested in the Bayern Munich playmaker. The report states Chelsea and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on Musiala, whose contract talks have been stalling with Bayern since early 2023.
Musiala rejected a £150,000-a-week offer of a new contract earlier this year and his current deal at the Allianz Arena expires in the summer of 2026. Bayern will continue their efforts to tie him down to a long-term contract but the player is keen on returning to England and wants the Premier League to provide the ‘next step in his career trajectory’.
This should come as a big boost for the Reds. Regarded as one of the brightest talents in world football, Musiala would be a top-drawer signing to kickstart Arne Slot’s revolution at Liverpool. He is a gifted attacker who would immediately enhance the Reds’ attacking setup that has been heavily reliant on goals from the forwards in recent years.
A playmaker of the Germany international’s quality, pedigree and winning mentality should make a huge difference to Arne Slot’s side. He bagged 12 goals and eight assists in 38 games across all competitions in an underwhelming Bayern side last season, which further illustrates his innate quality and potential.

Musiala has two years left on his contract and is likely to cost a bomb even if Bayern consider selling him. Given the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), we would almost definitely have to sell a high-profile player this summer even before thinking of bringing in Musiala.
