Liverpool could be bringing in a star player from Bayern Munich this summer.
As reported by German outlet Sky Germany (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are amongst several European clubs who are looking to sign Bayern Munich superstar, Joshua Kimmich this summer. The report states that the 29-year-old is currently in his last year of contract with Bayern so the higher-ups are willing to sell him this summer.
However, it won’t be easy for the Reds to land a deal for Kimmich. Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are also interested in Kimmich according to Sky Germany’s report. With so many clubs lining up, the German side will have a lot of negotiating power.
Moreover, Kimmich is a crucial part of Bayern Munich’s lineup. This past season he made 43 appearances for them while recording two goals and 10 assists. Most of the time you’ll find Kimmich operating as a defensive midfielder. The German excels in that position and is easily among the best defensive midfielders in the world at the moment.
It will surely take a serious bid for Bayern Munich to move on from Kimmich today. However, we have to consider the fact that Kimmich is in his last year of contract. So, if the German giants bet their luck on negotiating, they might fail to land any deal at all. That would mean the German midfielder will leave for free in 2025.
So, the clubs interested in Kimmich will have some kind of negotiating power when it comes down to it. For now, the German midfielder is playing for his country at this year’s Euros. Depending on how he performs throughout the tournament, his price tag could drop or rise.
Kimmich would bring a lot of quality to Liverpool’s backline. Combining him with players like Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister would result in amazing things for Liverpool.
