Al-Nassr are ready to move for Liverpool star Alisson Becker if Ederson deal falls flat

Saudi giants Al Nassr are ready to turn their attention to Liverpool FC’snumero uno Alisson Becker should a summer move for Manchester City star Ederson fall through.

According to an exclusive by Rudy Galetti for TeamTalk, the Saudi Pro-League side are keen to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer and have earmarked some of the biggest names in the sport for the same. They are currently in talks with Manchester City for their number one, Ederson. Pep Guardiola and Co have been offered a maximum of £25.2m

However, Al-Nassr are keen to get a deal done soon and have handed the Premier League champions a 48-hour window to agree to terms, lest they walk away and seek alternatives. Ederson, for his part, has already agreed to terms on a deal that will see him earn £10.5m per year in wages.

Should Manchester City fail to come up with a positive response, Al-Nassr are ready to shift their attention back to their first-choice target, Alisson Becker. The 31-year-old is arguably the best in his position in world football and is the undisputed starter at Anfield.

Losing Alisson would not just leave a huge hole in the Liverpool defence but also rob them of a leader who can inspire those around him. Thankfully for the Reds, the player is not keen to move to the Middle East as he believes it will impact his chances of retaining the goalkeeper’s gloves for the Brazilian national side.

Even if Al-Nassr ends up landing Ederson, there remains the chance that they remain keen on Alisson. This is because, their owners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), also own Al-Ittihad and will be keen to reinforce their goalkeeping department as well.

Should deals for the Brazilian duo fall apart, PIF will then shift their attention to the likes of Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Athletico Paranaense’s Bento. PIF also own Newcastle United and are also eyeing Magpies veteran Martin Dubravka and Juventus star Wojciech Szczesny.

Never have we seen Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play for the same team before and it remains unlikely that it will ever happen in the future as well. We hope the ‘Messi of goalkeepers’ also stays put at Anfield rather than move to the Middle East to share the locker room with a washed-up manchild.
