Liverpool have concrete interest in signing Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are readying a formal move for Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze.
Eberechi Eze has become a highly coveted figure in this transfer market after his exploits with Crystal Palace at the back end of last season. The creative midfielder registered 17 goal contributions in 31 games across all competitions for the Eagles, despite spending much of the season on the sidelines.
For his eye-catching form in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign under Oliver Glasner, the 26-year-old was picked in the England squad for Euro 2024. He did make three appearances from the bench as England lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euros final in Berlin, Germany earlier this month.
In addition to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed a concrete interest in Eze. The aforementioned report adds that Palace are likely to demand a similar fee for the England international to that which Bayern Munich splashed for French attacker Michael Olise (£50.8m) earlier in the transfer window.
In Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez, Liverpool have excellent forwards in their squad. However, barring Dominik Szoboszlai, they lack a proper No.10 who can slice apart well-drilled defences as well as score goals.
Eze could be that player for the Reds. The seven-cap England international has proven himself in the Premier League, and after becoming a sought-after commodity with his dazzling displays for Palace, he will be tempted to test himself at the highest level and compete for trophies.
Liverpool will be able to provide him with the platform to perform at the highest level and shine on big European nights. In return, Eze could give Arne Slot’s side dynamism, flair, invention and spark in attack. The ex-Queens Park Rangers man can operate in central midfield, No.10 and out wide, and such versatility would be a massive boon for the Reds. A tactically smart tactician like Arne Slot will be able to extract his best as per the specific opponent and game’s requirements.
At 26, Eze is about to hit his peak and Liverpool could hugely benefit from a presence like him in the final third. He can slot into multiple roles and add some much-needed depth and quality to the Merseyside outfit. The creative midfielder helped Palace earn a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield last season by scoring in the first half, so our club officials would have had the chance to watch him closely.
The Premier League star’s distinctive dribbling style is certainly popular and effective. While at QPR, he was dubbed the ‘drunken master’ for his lazy style of moving the ball and leaving opponents for dead. The style certainly has its fans now, much to the chagrin of Arsenal, whom the player represented at the youth level earlier in his career.

If the Greenwich-born star can keep himself free of injuries, he can make a huge difference at any top club including Liverpool. Keeping that in mind, we must pull out all the stops to beat Spurs to Eze’s signature.
