Adrien Rabiot rejects Liverpool’s offer as he hopes for Manchester United move
Adrien Rabiot is a free agent having departed Juventus at the end of June. The Frenchman is too good a target for any top European club, Liverpool included.
The Reds had made him an offer but unfortunately, Rabiot has rejected their approach according to Tutto Juve as he is keen on joining Manchester United instead.
United’s interest in his transfer has been longstanding. They were heavily linked with a move for Rabiot since his Paris Saint-Germain days, though now seems like a realistic time for them to finally unite with the midfielder.
The contractual details of Liverpool’s proposal are yet to be clarified. However, Rabiot is seeking an annual salary of €10 million which would have been fairly within the club’s budget.
Rabiot has been one of the world’s most prominent midfielders in recent years. He is a regular fixture in the French national side and was also part of the side that finished runners-up at the FIFA World Cup under Didier Deschamps in 2022.
His performances at Euro 2024 were terrific, thus bringing in the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid into his running as well.
Liverpool would have been bolstered by his box-to-box nature and together with Alexis Mac Allister, the ex-Juventus star would have added a lot of quality as well as energy in midfield. He would have been a noticeable upgrade over the recently departed Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita too.
With a relatively younger set of players at his disposal, it remains to be seen whether Arne Slot is granted a new midfielder in the upcoming weeks or he is forced to make do with his existing options.

Liverpool have done their part in trying to sign Rabiot and therefore, they cannot be blamed for faltering with his signing. However, his refusal to come to Anfield may taste twice as bitter if he joins a direct rival like Man United and excels with them.
