Liverpool are lining up a player-plus-cash deal to lure Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United during the summer and bolster their attack

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon remains a transfer target for Liverpool as the Merseyside club plans an audacious player-plus-cash deal. Liverpool have maintained a keen interest in Gordon since the early summer saga when Newcastle surprisingly attempted to sell him.

The Magpies needed to balance their books after facing a threat from Profit and Sustainability rules before the 30th June deadline. They opted to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankubu Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion to avoid punishment.

However, before they decided to sacrifice their youngsters, Newcastle attempted to sell Gordon to Liverpool with an audacious cash-plus-player offer. They demanded Jarell Quansah in the deal which Liverpool immediately rejected as Quansah is an important youngster with high potential.

Liverpool could offer a player-plus-cash deal to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon during the summer.

According to Sunday World, Liverpool could offer their version of a cash-plus-player deal later in the summer to sign Gordon. It is well known that Gordon is a Liverpool fan despite his past Everton affiliation and Newcastle’s attempt to sell him has turned his head.

Gordon joined the Magpies last summer from Liverpool’s local rivals Everton and displayed incredible form after adapting quickly for them. The 23-year-old’s performances last season earned him a spot in England’s squad for Euro 2024 as a unique attacking style.

The England international is well-built and possesses incredible pace, stamina and drive to haunt defenders in the wide attacking areas. Gordon maintains close control during his dribbling at a high pace and possesses the instinct and agility to avoid tackles.

His movements and ability to react quickly draw many unwanted fouls from the opponents and his unpredictability is another asset. The 23-year-old is capable of playing at any attacking position but he prefers to play in the left-flank.
