Liverpool make an offer for Valencia star Giorgi Mamardashvili

Liverpool are intensifying their efforts to secure a long-term successor to Alisson Becker, with Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili emerging as a top target. According to Levante-EMV, the Reds have already made an initial offer for the Georgian shot-stopper, signalling their serious interest in bringing him to Anfield.

Valencia, currently grappling with financial difficulties, are keen on making a significant sale before the summer transfer window closes. This situation presents an opportunity for Liverpool to negotiate a deal for Mamardashvili at a price potentially lower than his €45 million valuation. Although the Spanish club initially set this price, Liverpool are well aware of Valencia’s predicament and believe they can leverage it to secure a more favourable deal.

Two bids have already been submitted by Liverpool, both of which were rejected. However, the Merseyside club remains optimistic that a deal can be struck. Their plan involves signing Mamardashvili and then loaning him out to another Premier League club to gain valuable experience until Alisson eventually departs Anfield.

Alisson Becker has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s success since his arrival, playing a crucial role in the club’s Champions League triumph in 2019 and consistently delivering top-tier performances. However, with the Brazilian goalkeeper now 31, Liverpool are mindful of the need to plan for the future. While he remains one of the world’s best goalkeepers, the Reds are proactively seeking his long-term replacement.

Alisson Becker is world class but Liverpool must be ready to replace him when the time comes.

Mamardashvili, at just 23 years old, fits the profile of a goalkeeper who could eventually step into Alisson’s shoes. His performances for Valencia have already drawn attention across Europe, and Liverpool see him as a viable option to secure their goalkeeping future.

Moving for Giorgi Mamardashvili could be a shrewd piece of business. With Alisson still at the peak of his powers, the Georgian would have time to develop and adapt to the Premier League, ensuring a seamless transition when the time comes for Alisson to step down.

Moreover, by acting now, Liverpool could avoid a potential bidding war in the future when Mamardashvili’s stock could rise even higher. Securing a deal at a lower price due to Valencia’s financial struggles would also represent a smart financial move, in line with the club’s strategy of building a sustainable squad for the future.
