Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold confident of agreeing new Anfield deal

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has held talks with the club over a new deal to secure his future at Anfield. The contract situation surrounding Trent has kept the Liverpool fans very anxious, as Real Madrid circle like a shark.

The 25-year-old is not just any academy product but a key player for the first team and is highly adored by the Kopites. The idea of losing him is unacceptable to the fanbase, which wants to see Liverpool secure their key players’ future.

Apart from Trent, captain Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also playing in the last year of their contract. The 25-year-old is just starting the peak years of his career while already establishing himself among the best playmakers in Europe.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have contacted Trent to negotiate the new deal and secure his future. The England international had a frustrating summer with his national team, playing second-fiddle to other English players despite their struggles.

Former England manager Gareth Southgate’s negative mentality never allowed Trent to have a consistent run of games for England so far. However, the change in management could allow Alexander-Arnold to flourish at the international level like he has for Liverpool.

The 25-year-old has played more as an inverted right-back in the last season under former manager Jurgen Klopp. He also played as a number six in the situations when Liverpool needed to make a comeback last season.

Alexander-Arnold has matured with more responsibilities, using the ball more wisely instead of always attempting risky passes in the game. Trent outlined that he wants to become a Liverpool captain after achieving other successes in his young career.

Arne Slot is desperate not to lose the player, and the Reds look set to hand Trent a massive pay rise that will reflect his standing as one of the Premier League’s best players. There are reasons for the Red faithful to be optimistic as both the club and the player’s entourage are confident a deal can be agreed on in the coming months.
