Transfer deadline day is gradually heating up with many clubs including Liverpool, anticipating surprise movements before the 23:00 BST deadline. The Reds signed Federico Chiesa for an impressive bargain price after securing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for the future seasons.

Furthermore, the Reds allow numerous departures of fringe players with multiple lucrative deals and secured loan deals for the youngsters. The goalkeeping department at the club has enjoyed stability under Jurgen Klopp but there are many uncertain questions this season.

As Arne Slot succeeded Klopp, Caoimhin Kelleher contemplated a move to become a number-one goalkeeper at a top club. The Irishman plays as a deputy to Alisson Becker who is easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Kelleher and Jaros

Kelleher has the awareness that competing with Alisson is a daunting task which restricts his first-team appearances for the Reds. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has played a pivotal role in cup competitions for Liverpool and enjoyed a long run last season.

Alisson suffered an injury last season that allowed Kelleher a significant run with the first team as he proved his qualities. Klopp designated Kelleher as the “best number two goalkeeper in the world”, a sentiment that Liverpool fans share with him.

At the same time, the fans accept the potential of Kelleher leaving to further his legacy in the beautiful game. According to Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, Nottingham Forest plans to make a bid closer to Liverpool’s £25m valuation of Kelleher.

The Athletic reported earlier that Liverpool rejected a bid from Nottingham involving a swap deal with Matt Turner alongside cash. Liverpool’s new signing Mamardashvili will stay at his current club Valencia on a loan deal until 2025 summer.

Any potential late deal for Kelleher leaves Liverpool short in the goalkeeping department with Vítězslav Jaroš as the only backup. Liverpool have already acquired a lot of income by selling other fringe players and are not desperate to sell Kelleher. If Forest wants the Irishman this summer, they need to accept Liverpool’s demand or look elsewhere as the time runs out.
