Arne Slot selects Liverpool squad for the UEFA Champions League
Liverpool get their Champions League campaign underway in less than two weeks from now as they hope to secure a 7th continental title, a feat which only Real Madrid and AC Milan have achieved so far.
Arne Slot will look to make history in his maiden campaign as the Reds’ coach having already started the Premier League with three successive wins and added his new employers into the title mix very early on the season.
In preparation for the European Cup, Liverpool confirmed in an official statement on their website that Slot had submitted his squad for the 2024/25 season. Notably, Federico Chiesa makes the cut.
While Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott and Jarrell Quansah have not been included in “List A”, which constitutes 25 men including eight “locally-grown” stars, they remain eligible to play through a “List B”, which can have unlimited names and be altered prior to every fixture, as per Liverpool’s statement.
Here is a look at List A, which does not include any big surprises:
Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Chiesa, Diaz, Endo, Gakpo, Gomez, Gravenberch, Hill, Jaros, Jones, Jota, Kelleher, Konate, Mac Allister, Morton, Nallo, Nunez, Nyoni, Robertson, Salah, Szoboszlai, Tsimikas, Van Dijk.
Liverpool have a series of very difficult fixtures coming up in the Champions League, most notably against two of the competition’s most successful sides, AC Milan and Real Madrid, as well as the Bundesliga’s reigning champions, Bayer Leverkusen, who were famously undefeated in all domestic competitions last season.
Here is the list of Liverpool’s fixtures, with the dates and venues. Unless specified, the matches are played at 8pm UK time.

Liverpool vs Bologna – 2nd October – Anfield

The newly adopted format of the Champions League has caused Liverpool to play eight league phase clashes like every other time. If the Reds finish between first and eighth, they will be guaranteed passage to the quarter-finals in April. Should they finish between ninth and 24th, they will need to go through a qualifying round in March and any team finishing below 24th will be eliminated without having passage into the Europa League.
