Liverpool tried to sign Real Madrid duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo Goes in the last summer to bolster their squad. Despite the heavy competition within Real’s squad, Tchouameni and Rodrygo have featured a lot during the start of this season.

Nevertheless, the situation can change as Los Blancos have struggled to get early results and other players demand their chances. Furthermore, the new star signing Kylian Mbappe would keep his starting position despite his struggles due to the excessive hype.

Certain players at the Spanish club are indispensable from the starting lineup and one of them, Jude Bellingham, returns soon. Tchouameni and Rodrygo played a key role in Madrid’s past success, but other stars easily overshadowed their contributions.  

Meanwhile, Liverpool have enjoyed an impressive start to their Premier League season with three wins in the first three games. The Reds wanted a defensive midfielder, an attacking forward and a left central defender during the start of the summer.

However, after the failed saga involving Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool only signed Federico Chiesa for the immediate season. The Reds maintained that they wanted quality over quantity, targeting players who would immediately become first-team starters under Arne Slot.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool tried to sign Real star duo Tchouameni and Rodrygo during the summer to bolster their squad. The Reds wanted Tchouameni under Jurgen Klopp when he joined Real and has continued emerging in the rumours involving Liverpool.

Both Madrid players are the recurring names for the Reds in the transfer market which is a familiar theme for Liverpool fans. The Kopites often dealt with recurring names in the transfer market like Napoli legend Marek Hamsik and Galatasaray icon Arda Turan. These names often dominated the rumour mill despite lacking any authenticity or the club’s desire to sign them.

Liverpool have shifted the profile of the defensive midfielder that they desired since Klopp’s era. Transfer rumours have a habit of repeating themselves and Tchouameni is one of the recurring names in recent transfer windows.

Meanwhile, Liverpool signed Chiesa for a bargain deal negating any reason for them to target Rodrygo during the summer. Although Real does not fully respect the Brazilian’s selfless contributions, his loyalty to the club remains strong. One of the biggest reasons for his loyalty is the massive salary of €240,385 per week that he earns there, something the Reds would think twice before matching.
