AC Milan boss Paolo Fonseca insisted that Liverpool’s loss to Nottingham Forest won’t have any impact on their upcoming clash. The Reds just had their first defeat in the Arne Slot era after victories over Ipswich, Brentford, and Manchester United, losing 1-0 at Anfield to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute.

Both teams prepare for the highly awaited clash

Liverpool is swiftly turning their attention to the San Siro for their Champions League debut against AC Milan on Tuesday night at 20:00 BST. After a challenging season start, Milan relieved some pressure on their new manager Paolo Fonseca with a decisive 4-0 win over Venezia, scoring all four goals in the first 30 minutes.

The Rossoneri Boss had some words to say when interviewed at the post-match conference against Venezia.

“I have to be honest, I already started thinking about both games against Liverpool and Inter. I realize the importance of the derby, Liverpool will be very difficult, but I cannot deny I have already started studying Inter too. I know what it means to the fans, we are working to have good performances in both matches.”

Following a difficult season start, Milan’s recent 4-0 victory over Venezia was marked by Christian Pulisic’s goal and assist, securing their first win after draws with Lazio and Torino and a defeat to Parma last month.

Fonseca now determined to build on this momentum, has emphasized the need for continued growth from his squad.

Meanwhile, Slot noted the work ahead for the Reds:

“We only have to look at ourselves; we have to be better. Far too many times, we lost the ball around the area. It was not good enough. We have to be better with the ball.”

AC Milan may be a big name but Liverpool has already shown their strength by comfortably winning at Old Trafford this season. A strong performance at the San Siro would make a statement, yet any kind of win would be a positive result for Arne Slot after the weekend’s setback.
