Real Madrid wants Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold alongside several other Premier League stars to start their new era of dominance. The Spanish giant dominated the Champions League competition in the past decade after recruiting top players from other big clubs.
Real have a history of poaching the best talents to maintain their dominance which they have termed as “the Galacticos”. The strategy enabled them to dominate the competition, a feat usually seen only in video games with cheats.
While history only remembers the victors, many fans have criticized the abuse of power by the Los Blancos for ruining football. Furthermore, the fans who remember the Champions League campaign where Real won, also remember the controversial decisions which helped them.
Combining all the dark arts in sports has helped the club immensely, raising questions about fairness in sports. Liverpool have faced the Spanish club twice in the Champions League finals under the Jurgen Klopp era, losing both games.
The Reds dominated the 2021-22 finals but lost 1-0 while in the 2017-18 finals, they lost 3-1 to their rivals. The 2017-18 finals involved the controversial takedown of Mohamed Salah by Sergio Ramos which dislocated the Egyptian’s shoulder.
Ramos received no repercussion for the heinous tackle that was parallel to the armbar takedown in the mixed-martial arts fights. Liverpool and Real have a very different philosophy on and off the pitch despite the successes in their respective nations.
According to the Independent, Los Blancos want Alexander-Arnold as a free signing to continue their rebuilding of a new Galacticos. They have already signed Kylian Mbappe for free from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and possess a very formidable attack department.
The Independent report reveals that Manchester City’s Rodri, Arsenal’s William Saliba and Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero are also Real’s targets. Liverpool cannot afford to lose their best playmaker and vice-captain for free, let alone to their biggest European rivals.

Trent joining Real would hurt the Reds fanbase even more considering they are still waiting for the comeuppance. Liverpool need to keep their best players at the club as they continue to adjust under new head coach Arne Slot.
