That said, it is undeniable that the Arne Slot era has begun in promising fashion at Merseyside, with the Reds having won their opening three games in emphatic fashion.
On the back of their early performances, one Premier League legend is already backing them to go all the way.
William Gallas backs Liverpool to “run away with” Premier League this season
In a surprising statement, former French defender William Gallas has backed Liverpool to be in the hunt for a second Premier League title this season.
Speaking to Gambling Zone, the former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham man had this to say:
“I’m concerned that Liverpool and Manchester City could run away with it (the title race). You need to have opponents scared before the game even starts and that is what Liverpool had done.
“A three-team title race will be good for football and good for the fans because we thought it might just be City and Arsenal again with Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool.
“Manchester City have already sent a strong message with Erling Haaland looking to beat his own record, he is scary and is on the way to being the best Premier League striker of all-time.”

We’re all prone to make this mistake—make needlessly bold statements just a couple weeks into a season, and one you’re a high-profile former player working in the media, you accept this as part of the gig.
Liverpool’s start to the season is a promising one, but we have not yet reached a point where we can make claims about who will “run away” with the league. Any argument for Man City is understandable given the precedent; they’re gunning for a fifth league title in a row.
Simply put, we don’t have enough of a sample size with Arne Slot’s Liverpool to know whether they will be able to mount a title challenge, neither have we had enough matchdays for the league table to take shape.
