Jamie Carragher has given special praise to a Liverpool player, highlighting how he has levelled up his performance since Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer.

The head coach made a few adjustments to his lineup for the Champions League opener against AC Milan, but Ryan Gravenberch, who has started every match so far this season, retained his spot in the starting XI.

The Midfielder Keeps On Receiving Praises

This happens with every new manager and every team. They come on and have an effect on a player who you maybe thought was not good enough or the last manager didn’t really like.

“I think that player is Gravenberch in midfield. He looks a completely different player now under this manager than he did under Jurgen Klopp, so that has been a real plus for Liverpool.

Carragher Speaking to  CBS Sports

The club legend, who has made an astounding 739 appearances for the Reds, expressed his joy when speaking about young talent Gravenberch.

The 22-year-old Dutchman, earning approximately £150,000 per week, has been delivering standout performances. This season, Gravenberch has already accumulated 450 minutes of play, which is nearly a quarter of his total minutes from last season (1,839), highlighting his new-found significance in Slot’s Liverpool squad.

His recent performance against Milan had widespread praise from critics and fans. Voted Man of the Match, the former Ajax midfielder made six interceptions, the highest by a Liverpool player in a Champions League match since Trent Alexander-Arnold also made six against Man City in April 2018. Additionally, Gravenberch regained possession nine times, the most of any player in the game.
