Liverpool has started with a culture of backing each other up in the new head coach’s regime. While there could be a few moments one would like to forget, bouncing back up from mistakes has been emphasized. After their 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, Arne Slot’s men now have four wins in five games.

There were some interesting shuffles made by the Dutchman giving a fresh pair of legs a chance. It is safe to say that the chances would be thin among the competition. Grabbing your opportunity to show your best is going to bring the most out of the players.

Darwin Nunez who is currently on a £140,000 per week contract has had his share of forgetful moments for weeks. It starts with a five-match international ban at Copa America, being linked to clubs and struggling for game time under Arne. However, Slot shared his views on how the opportunities will come for the Uruguayan.

Against Bournemouth, he grabbed this opportunity scoring a beautiful curler in his first start of the season. As much as the squad was buzzed for him, Liverpool skipper Virgil Van Dijk speaking to the LFC media in the post-game interview said:

“Happy for him. He has to keep working, and keep being important when he has the chance.

“He has a very good ‘opponent’ or ‘rival’ or however you want to call it in Diogo Jota with him, so they have to challenge each other and push each other. That’s the only way we can be successful.”

While he described his joy for the striker, the captain also managed to keep the motivation. Liverpool will not decide on a preferred striker as the competition goes on. Proving yourself in training every day is the only way to start at weekends. This could be another way of utilizing the strength of the squad.

More Liverpool News:

Liverpool has had a few problems with their number 9 position since Roberto Firmino’s departure. Not only they’ve seemed inconsistent with who should play up top, but extracting the best of the position has also been a problem. There is no doubt about the quality of strikers we have in Nunez and Jota. Both of them bring different aspects to the table which can be implemented to undo opponents in versatile ways.

While the competition goes on, keeping the winning mindset in the camp will be important. And with the given depth of the squad, an increase in standards as they battle out all week is inevitable. So far, the era under Slot has not disappointed and given that there are more levels to attend, great things can be expected from his new Liverpool regime.
