Diogo Jota has struggled to make an impact at the start of this Premier League season, managing just one goal and one assist from Liverpool’s first four matches. This disappointing run of form has him being compared to the Ex-Liverpool Striker and RC Celta de Vigo Legend.

Remembering The Striker
Aspas joined the Reds in 2013, arriving with a strong reputation as a prolific goal scorer in his native Spain, before making the ambitious leap to England. Unfortunately, that step up proved too overwhelming for him. To many Liverpool fans, he’s remembered not for the sharp, instinctive striker they expected for a modest £7.6m fee, but rather for being a wasteful finisher during his short and troubled spell at the club.
Aspas’ time at Liverpool slipped away, contributing just one goal and one assist from 15 appearances due to which the striker found himself loaned to Sevilla before eventually returning to Celta Vigo in 2015.

The Spaniard struggled to cope with the intense pressure of playing for a Premier League giant like Liverpool which led to him leaving for Celta Vigo in a £5m move But he quickly found him being adapted to the new team and went on scoring and scoring and surprisingly being in an in an exclusive club with Lionel Messi.
From 499 games to date for the La Liga outfit, Aspas has 207 goals and 81 assists next to his name, with his output during the infancy of this season to date bettering that of Jota’s back at Anfield.
At 37, Aspas is still going strong for Celta this season, with five goal contributions in six games—just one less than Luis Diaz’s total for Arne Slot’s side and three more than Jota’s. Despite attempting fewer shots per game than the Portuguese, Aspas has been far more effective this season. While Jota remains wasteful for Liverpool, the veteran forward continues to make a decisive impact for Celta Vigo, even in the later stages of his career.

Liverpool must wish they could turn back time to see if things would have played out differently had the anxious Aspas been given more time to adapt. His spell at the club was cut short after just 15 rapid-fire appearances.
