Bayern Munich joins Real Madrid in the chase to sign Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold as three months remain until January. Trent could negotiate a contract with any club after January and Liverpool needs to negotiate a new contract before that.

The 25-year-old has started the new season strongly under head coach Arne Slot, playing as the preferred right-back at Liverpool. Trent has played in many variations as a right-back under slot, according to the phases of the game and opponents.

Slot’s tactics are vastly different from former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s as they emphasise patience over constantly attacking the opponent. The tactical style of play allows Liverpool to maintain the structure and cover the spaces immediately after losing the ball.

Under Slot’s tactic, Trent has thrived defensively while maintaining consistency and quality in his playmaking and offensive style of play. The 25-year-old has scored two goals from six appearances in all competitions for Liverpool so far during this season.

According to Fichajes, Bayern have joined Real to pursue Trent if Liverpool fails to secure him with a new contract. The England international is earning £180,000 per week from his current contract which expires at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old told Sky Sports that assurance of winning major trophies is crucial for him to sign the next contract. While the paranoid section of the fanbase questioned his statement due to his relationship with Jude Bellingham, many fans agreed.

The optimistic side of the fanbase believes that Trent is only outlining what every fan desires from the upper management. Liverpool have played too cautious in the transfer market at times which cost the major trophies under Klopp.

Furthermore, Trent highlighted his ambition to become the Liverpool captain which gives the fans more hope for him to stay. However, if Trent joins the bitter European rivals Real or the German giants as a free agent, he will taint his legacy at Anfield. Liverpool fans will not accept their homegrown player giving the prime year of his career to rivals after enjoying development and support.
