Liverpool marked their fifth victory in six games in the Premier League against Wolves on Saturday. This takes them above Manchester City as they stand first on the points table with 15 points. The Reds is also the only club to mark five victories in the Premier League right now. Following the sequence, the head coach Arne Slot is trying to stay humble and focus on what comes next.

Arne Slot is not letting a moment of focus get away from analyzing his next fixtures

Liverpool are eyeing a deal for Joey Veerman after failing to land Martin Zubimendi in the summer.
Arne Slot should be familiar with the Premier League now.

Liverpool started this season with doubts and concerns following the departure of Jurgen Klopp. But it is safe to say, Arne Slot’s takeover has been second to none. The confidence build and players shining are all signs of a system in the making. Given that there’s a lot more on standards to gain, Liverpool looks like a serious contender this season.

They came back from Wolverhampton with all three points thanks to Konaté’s header and Salah’s penalty. However, the tests are just beginning to line up as they have some big names in their next fixtures. Addressing the Champions League and fixtures before October break, Slot in the post-game interview told the media:

“I’ve said it a few times now that two years ago was the last time we played in the Champions League and we all know what kind of a season that was. Last season we had a much better season but then every time the players got a rest during the week and could play once a week.”

This shows his concern for the players in terms of fitness amid the pack schedules. He also makes it clear how important it is for him to perform on a European level given the past few seasons. Reflecting on whatever is to come before the International break, he also added:

“That’s a completely different situation to playing Champions League in midweek against a very tough opponent and then playing Arsenal or Aston Villa or all these top teams we are going to face after the next international break.

Liverpool surprised a bunch on their visit to Milan in the opening matchday of the Champions League this season. It wasn’t just a 3-1 victory; it was a clear message to the continent about their arrival. AC Milan who is a tough team to beat at San Siro were swept away in the Merseyside storm in Italy. They will look to keep their spirits on winning terms as they host Bologna this week.
