Liverpool, off to a bright start this season, are reportedly exploring options in La Liga as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. While the club aims to renew the Englishman’s contract, they have prepared a backup plan should he make a high-profile move to Real Madrid. With speculation around Alexander-Arnold’s future, the Reds are leaving no stone unturned as they remain focused on securing their key players.

Their strong early form under Arne Slot highlights their ambition to challenge for titles, but ensuring stability in critical positions, such as right-back, remains a top priority as the season progresses.

Liverpool are actively scouting the market for potential replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain. One name that has recently caught the club’s attention is Sevilla’s 21-year-old right-back, Juanlu Sánchez. The young Spaniard has emerged as a promising option should Alexander-Arnold move on, with Real Madrid considered a likely destination for the English defender.

Sánchez’s performances in La Liga have impressed Liverpool’s scouting team, and his potential arrival could be a strategic move to maintain the club’s depth and quality in the right-back position. As Alexander-Arnold’s future remains in question, Liverpool are carefully preparing for all possibilities.

Why the Spaniard?

The 21-year-old right-back Juanlu Sánchez is currently excelling at Sevilla, earning around £4,148 per week. Liverpool are growing increasingly concerned about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, as the Englishman has yet to confirm his intentions regarding a contract extension. Alexander-Arnold is reportedly seeking a salary increase to match the club’s top earners, such as Mohamed Salah, while also requiring assurances that Liverpool will remain competitive at the highest level.

As negotiations with Alexander-Arnold continue, Liverpool are actively exploring alternatives in case he chooses to depart, with Juanlu Sánchez emerging as a top option. According to Fichajes.net, Sevilla are open to negotiations and value the young right-back at around £21.7 million. Should Sánchez’s contract situation, which runs until 2026, remain unresolved, Sevilla may agree to a transfer.

Liverpool see Sánchez as a promising candidate who could seamlessly fill the right-back position, especially if Alexander-Arnold leaves for Real Madrid or another top European club. His performances in La Liga, combined with his potential for growth, make him a fitting option for the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are also exploring other right-back options, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong being one of the notable names on their radar. However, Frimpong’s game leans heavily toward attack, with his blistering pace and offensive contributions being a highlight of his play. While his attacking style could add an extra dimension to Liverpool’s forward thrust, it may not address the defensive stability that the Reds also require in that position.

In contrast, Juanlu Sánchez offers a more balanced approach, combining solid defensive skills with the ability to contribute to attacks when necessary. This makes Sánchez a better overall fit for Liverpool, especially considering the Premier League’s demanding pace and the need for defenders who can seamlessly switch between attack and defense. With uncertainty surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, Sánchez’s well-rounded game may prove crucial in maintaining Liverpool’s strength on the right flank.

In addition, the young Spanish defender Juanlu Sánchez could provide healthy competition for Conor Bradley, another promising talent from Liverpool’s ranks who has been making waves in the reserves. This internal rivalry would be beneficial for the club, pushing both players to reach their full potential while ensuring Liverpool maintains a high level of competition across all areas of the squad.
