Liverpool has been setting records left, right and centre since the arrival of Arne Slot. After their 2-0 victory over Bologna in the Champions League, many pages were rewritten.

From the manager being named one of his kind to Salah appearing in the higher ranks, everything has fallen into place. The Egyptian who has been on a riot this season in terms of numbers, managed to break some of his own following his victory sealer at Anfield.

Salah bagged a last-quarter goal along with the first-half assist to Mac Allister on the Italian’s visit to Merseyside. This takes him to 10-goal contributions in all competitions this season.

Following this triumph, Liverpool birthday boy and goalkeeper Alisson Becker took time to express his gratitude towards the Egyptian. Talking in the post-game interview on the official website, he said:

“He’s a player that helps a lot. Sometimes it looks like he’s not in the game but then suddenly he makes a perfect touch and he puts a ball in the top corner.”

“That’s his quality, that’s his strength as well. We are lucky to have him but we always have to highlight the hard work that the team had here tonight. A lot of things to improve still but it was good enough to win the game.”

Salah has always worked wonders on the right side of the pitch. While he looked quiet most of the game, he had his moments which he pondered upon. The goal against Bologna marked him as the all-time leading Premier League African goal scorer.

Becker describes him as a quality controller as he can spark moments when least expected. The Egyptian who is currently on a £350,000-per-week contract is only a moment away from turning a quiet day into a game-changing performance.

More Liverpool News:

Liverpool have been in talks with replacing the 32-year-old since the start of the season. Salah even took on the stage to express his situation earlier after the Manchester United game. He hinted about wanting to stay but how there have been no negotiations as of now. Given his age and contract demands, the fans have a nervous appetite for what will be his future at Anfield.

Salah has 269 appearances scoring 161 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League. He is easily the Reds’ one of the all-time greats.

His fine form has continued in the 2024/25 season as he’s putting up numbers week in and week out. Given the club’s culture, it will be tough for him to get a deal on the same terms. It will be worth keeping an eye on how the seasoned players’ future turns out at Merseyside.
